I’m writing this post as a warning for anyone who wants to give it a try for the first time.
It seems to be working for lots of people, but it did the opposite for me. It gave me an unplanned colon cleanse (pooping all night).
Just because it turned out to be a disaster for me, does not mean It’s going to do the same for you. As a matter of fact, a lot of people have found it helpful with their insomnia problems.
However, if you ever decide to try it, do so during the day, so you get to test out the immediate outcome. Simply because I don’t want anyone to experience the unplanned colon cleanse I had to go through all night.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for colon cleanse. In fact, I’ve even written a fairly popular post about doing one, BUT, that is a planned one you do first thing in the morning.
Not when I’m trying to go to sleep. And certainly not after having a full meal of Nandos 2 hours prior to all of this. So can you even imagine what I had to go through last night?
I came across this super easy coconut oil and sea salt sleep remedy some days back, and since I’m always staying awake late like an owl, I decided to give it a try last night.
Guess what time I slept? After 5.30am in the morning!
I had to make 3 long trips to the washroom last night, and it was a very sad experience. At one point, it freaked me out to the point where I was about leak if I had made it to the washroom even 3 seconds late.
How to do it:
The remedy is basically mixing a tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil with a ¼ teaspoon of raw honey and a sprinkle of sea salt. You’re supposed to swallow it and chase with water.
What I did:
I took 1 ½ half tablespoon of coconut oil with sea salt and then drank a glass of water. I didn’t add honey because I’d read that it’s optional.
What happened:
I closed my eyes thinking I’m about to fall asleep any second, as this remedy claims to, and started feeling my stomach grumble. I thought it would go away, but it simply got worse.
The grumbles got intense and I started feeling all gassy inside.
After 30-40 mins of turning from side to side trying to force myself to fall asleep, I felt the urgent need to run to the washroom. And, I’m so very glad I did that.
Or else, I think I would have ruined my pretty duvet covers. Gross, yes, but had to say it.
My first trip to the washroom lasted about 25 minutes. After the last trip, I looked at the time on my phone and it was almost 5 am.
So yeah, I had a fantastic sleep last night. ^_^
Bottom line: This virally circulating coconut oil sleep remedy might work for some people, but if you’re going to try it for the first time, do so during the day.
