Today (13/08/2016), at this very moment, this very second, I feel miserable, lost and like a total failure. I feel like i need to invent new words to describe exactly how i’m feeling right now.
A lot of things have been happening in my life for the past 10 years, that is, since the age of 15. And now, I just turned 25 last month.
From studies to finding a good paying job, I have successfully failed in every aspect of my life.
Friends? I have stopped making worldly friends years ago, so no human friends. The only true friend i ever had and ever will is, my lord Jesus. As a result, I have been living a drama free life, and trust me, that’s a true blessing these days.
But Jesus knew i needed a partner to love and spend the rest of my life with, so he decided to give me my husband, whom i married just a few months ago.
My bank account is not full of $$$, but my heart overflows with peace every time the lord speaks to me through his living words.
Like right now, as i sit here moaning and being depressed about all the bad things happening in my life, the lord has already started speaking to me through his words.
I have decided that it’s time I start sharing his words with you all. As i sit here feeling like a curse, a burden on myself and on my family, like a failure and worried about my future, these are his words that i have looked and meditated on to cheer my soul up.
Are you also feeling peaceless, depressed, cursed, and like a total failure? Today, the lord wants you to befriend him and let him cheer you up with his life giving words.
Because guess what? You can have a million dollar in your bank account, but if you don’t have peace, you don’t have anything.
Important: when you read the word of god and his promises, believe. Don’t question about how, when and if it will happen or not. Just believe like a child and praise him.
My life is full of debts and financial difficulties from every corner right now. I don’t always stay strong and stay patient. Even right now, i was feeling so depressed and worried about my future, but as i read his promises, they’re instantly bringing me joy and peace that words can’t describe.
Here we go:
- “In the world you have tribulation. But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16: 33)
In another words, that’s the lord telling you and me that life is going to be like a long roller coaster ride. There will be many scary ups and downs, but we must not lose heart because the lord has already warned us about it. He said, we will overcome this world because he has overcome this world.
- “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of god, that he may exalt you in due time. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5: 6-7)
I really needed to meditate on this right now. When nothing seems to be working as expected and when you’re facing failure, one after another, just kneel down and cry to the lord. Admit your weaknesses, confess your sins and simply humble yourself. Tell him everything you have in your heart and claim this promise has given you today. Once you’re done crying, just thank him and believe and wait.
- “Fear thou not; for i am with thee: do not be dismayed; for i am thy god: I will strengthen thee: yea, i will help thee; yea, i will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41: 10)
Read it? Read it one more time. Understand what the lord is saying? Read it one more time and let that promise sink deep into your heart. That is the lord almighty telling you not to be scared or dismayed about anything in your life. The lord, the one and only living almighty god of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob says, he will uphold you with his righteous right hand. What more do you need?
- “Yea, though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death, i will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalms 23: 4)
I literally meditate on this promise every time i step out of my house and when i’m on my way back home. Even right now, reading this word of god out loud brings instant joy to my heart.
No matter how bad my situations are, even when at times my life seems pointless to live anymore, i will meditate on this psalm and say to myself the lord is with me and he will comfort me. Try it. Every time you walk out, meditate on this promise of god in your heart and watch how no dangers will come your way.
- “For i the lord thy god will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not; i will help thee.” (Isaiah 41:!3)
That’s another beautiful promise to hold onto from the Chapter Isaiah. Back in the days when i used to read these kind of promises, i used to believe only half heartedly. You know, like yeah god is with me and everything is good. I will say it with my lips but not wholeheartedly believe in my heart. But now, no matter how hard life pushes me down, when i read his word, i believe and receive his promises like a happy child.
That’s how you have to believe also. Don’t just be like yeah god is there somewhere to help when you need him. Start believing he is there with you, actually holding your right hand and ready to help you. You can’t see, but you must believe, and then you will start seeing his works in your life.
- “No temptation has over taken you except what is common to mankind. And god is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
The above promise, is everything in life. God doesn’t lie. Our lord is a faithful god. He says that he will not allow me or you to be tested beyond our capacity, so what’s the deal? There is no if, but, no, just NO.
It’s plain simple. Whatever YOU are going through in life right now, god thinks you can handle it. Are you going to question or doubt that? Not only that, because of his everlasting mercy, he also says that he will provide us a way out when we can’t handle it anymore.
- “Is anything too hard for the lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
I get goose bumps every time I read the chapter of Abraham, particularly that verse. When Sarah, Abraham’s wife laughed and said “Will i really have a child, now that i am old?”, the lord asked Abraham if there was anything too hard for the lord. Abraham faithfully believed and patiently waited for god’s promise to be fulfilled in his life. God did bless him with a son eventually.
That’s what I keep saying to myself during all my hard times. All of this will pass away when the lord has finished testing my faith. I am going to keep praising him during all of my hard times as well as good times. It’s not easy, but you have to do it. And you have to do it wholeheartedly.
- “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” (Psalms 30: 5)
Many times, my eyes become filled with tears of joy as soon as i wholeheartedly meditate on this promise. Every night that i go to sleep feeling peaceless and in sorrow, i would always pray and meditate on this promise of god. And he never, NEVER fails to bring me joy the next morning in some way or another.
It basically means that you can be crying yourself to sleep in sorrow, but when morning comes, the lord will send you joy.
- “The lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
The lord knows his time to bless you. You just have to trust him completely and wait on him. The things that he may not allow to happen in your life right now, are the very things you might end up thanking him for later in your life. He knows his plans for you.
- “For i know the plans i have for you, declares the lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Yes he does. He knows the plans he has for us. This is literally what i meditate on day and night every day. I have not succeeded in any part of my life. Many people, even my own family members think of me as a failure. Many times i sit and cry out loud to the lord, but when I’m done crying, i repeat this promise of god and it will instantly put a smile on my face.
I have no idea how long it’s going to take before all the problems in my life fade away, but my tongue will not stop praising and waiting on the lord. Full stop.
I don’t need to, or wish to sugarcoat what the lord has already said. Whatever you’re going through, remember, the lord only has plans to prosper you and NEVER to harm you.
Feel free to pour out your heart below and share your trials and faith in the lord with others.
